Evaluate Report.

Digital environment create the possibility for millions of things: unlimited conversations with anyone on this earth (literally), massive amount of information within your reach at any time, technology which is able to create basically everything you can ever imagine in your mind--anything is possible, it goes as far as your imagination.

Digital environment brought a brand new possibilities for art, it has totally changed the old view of “how an art work should be” for thousand years. Artists have been experimenting this new way as usefully and skillfully as the “traditional” way, art scenes have never been such massive and creative as nowadays in history--of course, nothing is perfect, people are getting creative and productive as they had never did before, so sadly at the same time, it’s raising the issue of mass amateurism. Is art missing its “aura” in digital environment age? If image can be reproduced, where is art? Do we need a whole new language to understand the “aura” and “hybrid”? There are many questions left for us to consider as an artist, since we have the responsibility to tell the right massage--at least a responsible and thoughtful massage to this world.

Digital makes you available to connect with all kinds of media, put them together to work, mix them or to create another new form from them. It can be related with everything in your life: your personal information, your work, your social life--literally, all your information can be saved as memory in digital environment if you try to do so. Some people say it’s only a trend, people will go back to the old way of socializing after some time. Some people say it’s ridiculous to keep one’s information still after their death. I myself think it is very possible that our memory can live eternal as a machine in the future, even after our body died physically. I’m also very positive some research institutes are already experimenting it. But my question is--is it an advance for the humanity or it’s the opposite? I think man is using too many outer supports in their livings, yet they always refuse to improve their inner thoughts, getting more and more lazier, only choose what can bring them satisfaction and happiness, no matter what that leads them to. (In this point, my head is full of the image from movie <>, I hardly think those so called “future people” is advance from us in any way. But it could really lead us there, sooner or later.)

In this 10 weeks I’ve learnt things that was totally myths for me. It led me understood an little but brilliant edge of digital environment, in a very interesting and thoughtful way. Of course, it’s still a myths for me, but at least I knew some basic knowledge which made me ready to explore more in the future. It had remind me the important fact I always tend to forget: You should always, always look the world from different angle, it teaches you more than a long peek from one side.
